Tasty Recipes

From the HealthBarn USA team

If you like a good old fashioned PB & J sandwiches, then you’ll love these yummy, whole grain muffins!  We used buckwheat flour, a rich source of flavonoids, all natural peanut butter, and all fruit spread (fruit must be listed as the first ingredient on the label), and turned this muffin into a nutritious, energy-packed breakfast on-the-go or a fun, after-school snack!  Plus it’s a good source of calcium – what a bonus for our bones and teeth.  If nut allergies are a concern, use Sun Butter instead of peanut butter and enjoy the great flavor, too!  Serve these tasty muffins with 1% organic cow’s milk or try soy, rice or almond milk – enjoy!

When it comes to choosing a snack, why not make a mini-pizza!  Parents and children have fun making their own colorful creations!  We like Toufayan® Bakeries whole wheat pitas and Newman’s Own tomato sauce because we know they are made with all-natural ingredients (no high fructose corn syrup)! Toppings including fresh mozzarella cheese, black olives, broccoli, and mushrooms – make it even more colorful and nutritious!  Add fresh basil for more flavor.

This is the PERFECT Pop voted by our campers – “it’s so good that you want to eat it again and again!”  A rich, chocolatety party in your mouth -- you can’t believe it’s healthy!  We all know bananas are delicious eaten all on their own, but covered in chocolate they taste even better!  This chocolate is special because it’s made with tofu which makes it super creamy and adds protein.  By cutting a medium banana in half, it’s the right portion size of fruit, and by freezing, this makes for the perfect snack on a hot summer day!   Who needs the 100 calorie snack pack?  Chill out, and enjoy this WOW! frozen chocolate treat!  And, if you don’t like it, Giles will eat it!
