What's New at the Barn:

We're Busy Practicing
the 3 R's! The HealthBarn USA kids have
taken Reduce, Reuse and Recycle to a whole new level by
making super cool outfits from recyclable materials for the
HealthBarn USA Trash 'n Show -- the ultimate red
carpet experience during summer camp, click here to see their amazing creativity in action. Everyone
learned a lot about the 3 R's, including our
parents. We think it's important to share this
information so we can all make the planet a healthier and
happier place.
- Create Less
Garbage: Ask the question, "do I really
need this game, outfit, or other stuff?" before making a
purchase. We got a refresher course on wanting
and needing and now we
share games with our friends, instead of getting new ones.
- Hand Me Downs Are
Cool. Have each family member go through
their closet to create a pile of "stuff" that they are
willing to trade. Make it a fun event with a moderator
and invite friends to participate, too
-- it's better than
eBay!
- Establish
A Recycling Center. This is a fun family
activity that gets everyone involved. Visit your local
recycling center to find out how the recyclable stuff needs to be
sorted! Get everyone involved in setting up different
stations in the kitchen, garage and/or backyard and assign
each family member a trash duty to protect
the planet!
- Take Back the
Tap. Water and other beverage
bottles are big problems for landfills! Buy a Brita water
filter for your home water supply or a HealthBarn USA Reusable Water Bottle when you are on the go!
- Create Black Gold! Composting is a hot
trend among HealthBarn USA families! By eating less of the
packaged stuff, there is an abundance of fruit and vegetable
scraps perfect for a compost pile. Most
towns are offering bins at a reduced cost or start
a pile in your own backyard for your fall garden. Camper quote,
"I thought compost was litter and disgusting until I composted at
HealthBarn USA and now I have a different attitude about nature.
Plus, it looks like a work of art every time we add to the pile!"
How cool is that?!
Practice the 3
R's in your home today! Contact us to share your reduce, reuse and recycle ideas, so we can let other families know by posts to our blog.
